I am one of those people who fantasise about just suddenly receiving a miracle money, about how it would change my life and how it would help me solve a lot of my issues.
But looking back now, I can see a few times I actually received a large sum of money but as a result of lack of planning, I was not able to use it properly.
Let me paraphrase the question. What would you do if you were given a large sum of money? A lot of people already have a ‘typical’ ready answer to this question.
Answers along the lines of, “I will help the needy, pay my debts, travel the world, quit school, start a business, cater for my family better, invest, buy property, build a house, donate to charity, start a retirement fund.”
The list is endless of the answers people give when asked for their plans for a hypothetical huge sum of money.
The shocking and hard truth is that if/when eventually this money arrives, you might not know what to do with it. It’s no news that some people receive a large sum of money and they cannot properly explain what they used it for.
Many people believe that once they get a large sum of money, all their problems will be solved, this is quite true to an extent but without proper planning, you will find yourself back at square one.
It might sound insignificant but planning and budgeting right now is what will prepare you for when money actually comes. How are you managing the money you have now?
The fact that you earn so little is not an excuse not to budget. Even with the little you have, you might realise that you can begin to achieve some of your goals step by step without waiting for that lottery cash.
If you are mismanaging the money you have now, what makes you think you will automatically learn to spend well once you hit a ‘big jackpot’?
Maybe you’re also sitting and waiting for a big breakthrough before they make an impact or check off some things from their list. But whatever level you are currently in financially, you can begin to work on these goals.
The question now is not, ‘What will you do with a large sum of money?’ but rather ‘What are you currently doing with the money you have?’
For many people, they might never get a million rubles as a gift but by proper planning and hard work right where they are, they can achieve all of their goals. So stop waiting for miracle money before you start something.
Go ahead with the little you have and you will be shocked at what you can achieve.
On another hand, if you want that shocking boost financially, believe it or not, it all lies in your hands. Like we always advocate on our page, work on yourself, put yourself out there and tell people about your services.
Always strive to offer the best in all you do, take wise and calculated risks and these will contribute to your success in the long run.
So when someone asks you what you will do with a large sum of money, tell them you will plan and budget properly just like you have been doing.
Have a nice week ahead.
