STRESS– AN UNOFFICIAL PART OF ADULTHOOD

You will agree with me that indeed adulting comes with a special package of stress. I think daily you receive at least 2 packs of stress. I can’t explain it but it seems everything is automatically programmed to go the way you don’t want it to.

From the moment you wake up to the sound of your alarm, to the endless to-do lists, unexpected bills, and the eternal struggle of trying to balance work and personal life, stress is practically our shadow.

Everything leaves you feeling either angry or just drained.

The danger of being constantly stressed is that, aside from health issues, it leaves you cranky and dampens your mood. You become that person who snaps at their friends for no reason or who spends their weekends binge-watching movies or series in a state of emotional exhaustion.

But don’t worry; while we may not be able to eliminate your stress entirely, we can certainly help you manage it better. Here are six tips to reduce stress and reclaim your sanity:

  1. Respond Better

It is the plain truth– you cannot control the way situations turn out but you can control how you respond to them. Life circumstances will not always go in the direction you want but it is your responsibility to not allow the outcome to get to you.

  1. Get Moving

Taking your physical activity seriously definitely helps relieve stress. Take a walk, have a private dance party in your living room, hit the gym. It has been proven that moving your body releases endorphins that boost your mood. Find an activity you enjoy and make it part of your routine. It’s a great way to shake off stress.

  1. Talk to someone

There’s no need to lock in all your troubles. You are not a stone. Just having someone (or two people) you can pour out to can be helpful. It helps to relieve bottled up emotions and sometimes it can even help you consider your situation and get a second opinion.

  1. Just Relax

Yes, you read right. The reason why you feel like you’re in an endless spiral of being stressed is because you don’t really have a time to relax and unwind. You hustle everyday with no sleep, no nap, and sooner or later, it will take its toll on you.

  1. Set Boundaries

Learn to say no when you need to. Overcommitting yourself to work, or even to people, can lead to burnout and increased stress. Prioritize your necessary tasks and set boundaries with work and social obligations to create time for relaxation.

In conclusion, while stress may be an unofficial part of adulthood, it doesn’t have to define our life. Life is too short to be perpetually stressed!
