Meet the 28 year old jack of all trades navigating life in the city of Moscow…

Where do you stay in Moscow?

Lyubertsy District

Is there anything that fascinates you about Moscow

Oh yeah, at first I used to be fascinated with how big Moscow was. I moved from a smaller city to Moscow so it is understandable. But now that I have gotten used to the city, I am still pretty impressed by the transport system because everything seems to be working as it should. I keep wondering how they are able to make things work in the city. Nigeria could never…

How long have you lived in Moscow and what do you like about it?

I have been in Moscow for the last four years. I was in another city before that time and of course, there is a stark difference between this place and the other cities here. I like living here because Moscow has a way of making you feel like a hustler, maybe it’s the people or the achievements of others that just pushes you and keeps you on your toes. The amount of businesses I have ventured into since I arrived in Moscow is mind blowing even for me. I wouldn’t have made so many business decisions if I had not come to Moscow.

How long have you been working on your own?

Let’s say for two and a half years now. I started with logistics and then I branched into tech and a few other things. But I have decided working on my own terms is the best decision for me…

Can you give us a breakdown of your monthly expenses?

Hmm, that might be tough o. I have different commitments that come up every month and so I have to cater to them but this is what a normal month should look like:

Food and groceries- 20k

Eating out- 15k

Transportation and miscellaneous- 10-15k

Internet- 2500

Are you the type that attends events?

Not really, except it is an event where I know I can network and meet new people, and also connect with potential clients

What consumes most of your money in Moscow?

It’s food o. I love trying out new dishes and restaurants so eating out and also buying groceries takes a good amount of my money. Transportation too, especially taxis

Do you mostly eat out or make your meals at home?

It’s 50:50. Sometimes I make my meals, sometimes I eat out. It depends on how I feel.

Do you live alone?

Nope, I have a flatmate for now and we split the rent and the bills. I hope to go out soon

What is your current relationship status?

It’s a complicated situation jare.

Best part of living in Moscow?

Moscow is where life is happening, it’s the capital so it’s understandable, it just has a lot of opportunities to offer. It also has a way of satisfying you, there is nothing you need that you cannot get in Moscow.

Worst part of living in Moscow?

Moscow is expensive and there’s no love anywhere. Maybe as a result of the hustling vibe, people never really care about you. It is like everyone is just trying to make headway and so it is difficult to find lasting meaningful relationships. The expensive part hmm… I believe I don’t need to say much.

What is the craziest thing that has happened to you in Moscow?

I was kicked out of my apartment by my crazy landlady the second year I got here. That one is a whole story for another day. Also, there was a time I got scared that I had tuberculosis, meanwhile it was just a mild infection. And these two situations happened in the span of 6 months. Ah I really thought my village people were after me. It was all settled sha.

What are your favourite go-to spots in Moscow?

There are plenty o, I can’t even begin to name them now.

What do you do for fun?

I eat out and chill with friends.

What is your hack for flexing on a budget?

Go out with friends, for me it saves me the money I would have spent trying other things. We try to split most of the bills.

Nice talking to you. Have a nice week ahead.
