When we talk about ‘a brand’, you are probably thinking of these big companies, online influencers, celebrities and some small-scale businesses but it is not just that, ‘a brand’ is also you, it is not limited to certain individuals.
As a business owner, your brand is everything you stand for, your product, the value it brings and generally what you have to offer to your audience.
Your brand is what people visualise when they think of you, it is as deep as seeing a particular colour or combination of colours and connecting it with you.
Your brand is your identity, it is beyond logos or a perfect combination of colours. When people see your brand, there is a certain emotion that they feel, you want to make sure it is positive.
Below are a few tips to make your brand appealing no matter the services you offer:
1. Be real- Your brand should speak authenticity and genuineness. You want to make sure that you are what you say you are. To avoid a situation of ‘what I ordered vs what I got’, ensure your clients are getting what you said they would get.
If you can’t deliver immediately, let them know. No go dey do pass yourself. Please if you cannot offer a particular service, don’t say you can. Be real! Refer them to another person if you honestly cannot handle what they are asking for. Be transparent with your clients.
2. Have a niche- You can’t offer all services and neither can you cater to the needs of everyone, your goal is to have a particular audience you want to reach. Having a niche enables you to put all your efforts into what you are doing and gives room for improvement.
3. Have an online presence- Please o, not just any online presence but a good online presence, on social media platforms make sure you are active and putting your brand out there in the best quality possible.
The age we are in requires that you meet people where they are likely to spend their leisure time. Where else than their social media platforms? You do this through fliers, short clips and videos, reviews and different product launches.
Engage your audience on these platforms and ask for their input, it boosts your page and makes your brand known.
4. Network like your life depends on it- You have heard the saying, follow who know road, or at least make the right connections. Get close to people that matter and speak to them concerning your brand.
Don’t be shy or feel reluctant about speaking to people, the connections you have will sometimes speak for your brand when you are not there.
It is even more beneficial if these people have patronised you and you gave them the best service, then they won’t hesitate to inform other people about you and before you know it, your audience is getting larger. So network, talk to people, ask that they try out your service and prove your worth.
5. Define what you want to be known for- Like we said earlier certain brands evoke certain emotions in people, and as a business owner you want people to have positive vibes when they come across your brand.
This boils down to your values and work ethics. What values is your business built on? Is your reputation a good or bad one? Are there a ton of complaints concerning your brand? All these gradually give people an image of your brand.
You are either known as being authentic or just another person with a business. A good brand is very important, it determines how fast your business grows, the audience you can reach and in the long run your relevance as a business owner.
Other things like consistency and good quality service are factors that can help your brand grow, work on all these areas and see the improvement in your business.
